And I could not be more delighted.
Some years ago I purchased an Airfix kit for a Mk32 Bristol Superfreighter at WASMex. It cost a dizzying $ 10 and included a vac-form part for a new nose and tail assembly.

I decided to build the Superfreighter in the original Airfix form and configure it as a memory piece for my wife – she and her folks had travelled to France aboard these aircraft. The vac-form plate went on the shelf.
Then Airfix introduced the original kit as a Vintage Classic and I knew it was time for the aftermarket to be used. I selected Norcanair livery as an original plane is featured in a museum in Winnipeg – lots of museum pics. There is also one in a private museum in Wetaskwin, Alberta, but it is in very drab grey colour. I have a Norcanair DC-3 so this will make a splendid display partner.

The kit is pure 60’s Airfix with rivets and all, but is not distorted or short-shot. Did one elect to make it as a Superfreighter, the decals are superb. Wish I’d had them when I made mine.

There will be no interior with this one – unlike the Superfreighter build; all doors firmly closed. I have just figured out how to make white lettering for the wing markings so that will be my point-of-pride this time.

Roll on the marketeers at Airfix! Bring ’em all back. We’ll pay again and cheerfully, too!
