Norcanair Bristol Freighter – Part Six – Manitoba

Winnipeg, actually. Remarkable place.

When I was a child I spent a month there one week and I shall never forget it. The pills help, though…

It is the site of the museum that houses CF-WCE – the Norcanair Bristol Freighter. Ex-RCAF, it served many years flying out of Saskatchewan to points north. Now it is a rather beaten-up exhibit in the hangar. I see that occasionally they take it outside for some reason, though it doesn’t fly.

Never mind, this Airfix model is memory enough. Not a perfect job, by any means, but good enough. Very Canadian, that…

Now to find a Fly model of the Bristol 170 in RAF/RAAF livery and convert it to the RCAF version. They will take up considerable shelf space but the possibilities for a Wet Dog regional diorama are endless – this is the second Norcanair civil airplane on the tarmac.
