Well, isn’t that what we all want?
The question is how we define it and where we look. Other people search for sex, drugs, and rock and roll. Scale plastic modellers search for styrene parts that fit and paint that doesn’t dry in the bottle. Also the bits that drop on the floor.
We are generally willing to pay more for these than we would for the S, D, or R&R, but we are more likely to be fussy. We want our pleasures boxed, with clear instructions. And we read review sites to make sure we are getting what we want.
The good time we get can last a lot longer than the more sensual pleasures…and the time frame is stretched by the need to wait for the paints. We love you long time, but we poke you with finger every hour to see if you are dry.
We also need more – one fix is never enough. This is why we have what we refer to as a stash. Unlike a mistress, a stash is never a single thing. Fortunately, kits do not become jealous as they sit on the shelf. Nor do they write tell-all exposé novels or demand blackmail money.
They do worse…they demand aftermarket parts.
