I have skirted around the Lockheed Hudson for decades.
My collection includes a Lodestar, a Ventura, and a Harpoon – all fun to build and successful finishes. Yet the basic Hudson has eluded me – until Airfix decided to revive a Vintage Classic. I’ve been haunting the red-box shelves in two shops for months – today was the pay-off.

The kit is of its time with rivets galore – and as I am not going to need extremely large or complex decals for the version I want, I am going to leave them there in all their glory. The two seams that are difficult – dorsal and ventral fuselage – are going to be hidden by position and dark grey camouflage.

The mouldings look good, though the gates are sizeable. I shall look for sink marks as I build it and deal with them. The decals are very good, but will pass on to the spares as I make my own squadron markings.

The reference work for this is the wonderful ” Canadian Aircraft of WWII ” by Carl Vincent. It is the best unexpected book bargain I have ever found. I have a colour profile and photos of just the plane and it is not an overly-complex scheme. I could not ask for a better kit to while away the Christmas-New Year period.
