In some cases that is a good time and in some just a goo time.
I have written before about making my own sprue goo and using it for seam and gap filling. I have largely thrown away the Vallejo, Perfect Plastic Putty, and Mr Hobby products in favour of this home-made solution.
I also have found a very old jar of Mr. Surfacer that has ended up at about 750-grade but is lovely and thick. It is brushable and does whatever a spatula mix cannot do.

But this old Kitech kit needs surprisingly little of it. Where the gaps are they are pretty foul – but there are few of them. I should still like a powered file or grinder to smooth these seams, but there is often too much taken off as the tools rotate.
Note the workflow mistake – had I delayed attaching the rocket pods until the end painting would have easier. This is a fine hobby but you have to keep thinking one thought after another…
