Egyptian MiG 21- Part Two – Here’s To Hasegawa

An afternoon’s cutting and cementing and the basic aircraft is done.

It is nearly always about the paint scheme and markings, so getting to the decoration stage early can be a real comfort. Arriving without having to fill many seams or re-enforce wing or tail attachments is a bonus.

Thus my relish as the MiG sat there – but more was to come. The Egyptian Air Force used to fly this model of the aircraft, but a long time ago. Many of theirs were shot down and many more shot up on the ground. There is a survivor in the Cairo Air Museum in reasonable condition – and it has been set upon by the museum paint crew.

It is unlikely to have worn the scheme shown in combat, but then you never know. In any case it is real…there…now.
