Another flattened amphibian from 1974 – a WW2 Typhoon fighter-bomber.

A kind gift from a club-mate – to whom I was able to reciprocate. This old Frog Typhoon is in excellent shape, even if the box is not. All sprue trees complete and the canopy has not cracked. The instructions are not snail-eaten ad the decal sheet actually looks usable in some form. The printing registration for the roundels is out, but the squadron codes are still visible.

It’s not the only Typhoon in my collection – the first one is a famous example with the bigger engine and 4-bladed prop. It was a pre-built example from a Chinese firm – well made and accurate. This example will have 3-bladed prop and will be armed with 500 lb bombs on under-wing pylons.

A Bombphoon, apparently. The Frog kit is basic – not providing a cockpit or an engine grill. I think the original release of it was 1968. We shall see what can be made of it…
