Pilatus PC-21 – Part One – Serendipity

The definition of the word links random occurrences that produce a beneficial result – in short good luck.

It has started for me with the donation of this new kit. The firm that makes it – 3D Blitz Models – seem to be Swiss. This will be one of the few occasions when I have encountered products from this country, but as the previous experiences were all positive, I have every confidence.

In case you were wondering – Thorens, Revox, Bolex were amongst previous possessions. I still have two Thorens turntables and they will never quit.

The other serendipitous part happened at a family dinner party. My niece bubbled over about her son who is currently training with the RAAF and showed phone images of him in the cockpit of a PC-21 painted in Roulettes markings.

As the kit I got has an aftermarket set of just these Roulettes decals I have gotten myself some fresh red paint and am waiting for my new eyes to settle so that I can start cutting plastic. The model is to be made as a present for the chap on his graduation.

Kit looks superb, on two grey and one clear sprue trees. decals also good, but I will experiment with the extras before trying the real ones. I remember a somewhat experience with earlier sets of locally-produced markings.
