Mirage 2000C – Part One – Birthday Present No. 1

First box off the new stash shelf. A wonderful sensation.

The box art for the new Italeri 2000C fighter is all about the first Gulf War of 1990-91 – all browns and sand colours. The call-out on the back plus the decal sheet promise Armée de l’Air and UAE Air Force of the period. Possibly, but I am also tempted to the 1990 continental French squadron on two cool colours. We shall see.

The sprue trees seem up to Italeri’s superb standard – I always look forward to an Italeri build. You are not forced into impossible details or burdened with awkward design features. These trees have plenty of ordnance, as well – and the internet images of the real aircraft bear this out.

Of course there will be weight needed in the nose – but Italeri are sensible in their mouldings and leave room for it as well as support in the form of a sturdy front landing gear strut.

As a new kit, I shall have the luxury of decals that release properly from their backing sheet and bed down without breaking. After a run of ancient donations the relief will be palpable.
