That wonderful catering phrase that means keeping serving sizes down to boost profits. Less jam and more return.

I also wonder if it is practised in the scale model supply business – particularly with model paints. I use the Big Two Japanese brands of alcohol and spirit-based acrylic paints- the ones in the round jars with the big screw lids. I suspect they dole their myriad of colours out in 10 ml doses. If you can get the lid off, you are lucky and if you can get it back on properly you may eventually get 8 of those 10 ml as usable paint.

The older tinlets and screw-top jars that dispensed enamels seem to have worked better and allowed easier resealing. I regret the removal of several of these lines here in Australia, particularly as I discovered that the more active lacquer thinners are perfectly suited to the older style of paint.

And I recall the older style of glass jar with the small lids of the Pactra and Revell era. The paints may have been pretty fierce, but you could get the darned lid off.
