I really must make more of a study of model helicopters – having built four of them for my own small airfields. Thankfully, the kit industry has as much affection for them as for fixed-wing aircraft and there seem to be varieties from every country on offer. If you were a dedicated helicopter modeller you could certainly fill your showcase with examples of Soviet and Russian planes – they have a massive helicopter industry.
There is a certain fragility about the scale model rotary-wing aircraft that may put people off – the blades can be thin and the mounting structures and drive shafts very fine indeed. But with a little care and discreet reinforcement with PVA or cyanoacrylate glues these areas can be rendered safe for most purposes. The helo builder is in no worse position than the specialist who puts biplanes together.

The aircraft also lend themselves well to dioramas and stands.

I would have taken more pictures but there were a lot of people hovering over the tables…
