Vought CorsairF4U-1 – Part Three – Thanks, Doc…

Thank you, Dr. Tamiya. I needed that.

That slap in the face with a model kit:

  1. That fits together without sanding or filing.
  2. With an entire cockpit in 1:72 as a matter of course.
  3. With wing seams that need no putty.
  4. With the engine where all cylinders are part of the injection moulding and no flash between them.
  5. Featuring a vertical fin that lines up with the fuselage…which in turn lines up with the wings and the horizontal stabiliser.
  6. Sporting landing gear that fits and stays steady.

This is such a change from the last two kits made by A—– that I feel I have entered into a new country. Of course I will travel back underground again to the land of horrid seams and sinkholes soon enough – no modeller can resist bargains and there still seams of dodgy models to be mined. But it is nice to be out in the sunshine right now.

I refuse to buy aftermarket seat belts but I’ll decal them on if the maker gives them to me…
