I appear to have learned something from my past experiences with Israeli fighter planes. This time I did not attempt decals for the rudder, electing instead to paint the 101 Squadron stripes. They have been very successful, and tempt me further to try to paint the rest of the ID stripes and Magen Davids rather than rely upon decals.
This is the result of a lottery I participated in with the IDF/IAF Spitfire and The IDF/IAF Mosquito. Both sets of Magens were from the same new Zealand printer but the Spit ones were like linoleum while the Mozzie ones went on very smoothly. The ability to paint insignia will be a new skill to learn and I don’t think that cutting a six-pointed star or white surround mask will be rocket science. I know I can mask and paint fuselage stripes easily.
If they are successful I’ll elect to leave the Avia as a freshly-painted aircraft at the museum.
