Stan Cross fans will recognise the reference…

The red plastic cup is my scale model club coffee cup. Taken faithfully every Tuesday for my 50¢ cup of coffee in preference to the club cups which are washed every coentury or so…
It is a Decor cup with a plastic lid and keeps things fine and hot. And now it has become a key tool on the assembly bench.
As I build 1:72 planes, a number of the smaller fighters and transports can fit into the cup – they can balance as you see on trailing edges for cementation of engines and propellers – or they can accept a wing to allow the fuselage to present for decaling. If things are unbalanced you just put a few glue or paint bottles into the bottom until they wedge the plane in the position you want.
As I say, don’t laugh. You’re all modellers and you’ve done far worse in the past or will in the future.
Just remember to take the model out before you have coffee or you’ll risk a wing in the eye.
