And we’re livin’ in them alright. I hope we keep on livin’
The KB29A was my Mens Shed model club project and I vowed to only do it when I was at the clubrooms. The bastard Wuhan Plague put a stop to that. But I decided to keep my vow…virtually – I would model in club style twice a week in my own Little Workshop for three hours at a time. It was a form of discipline.
Of course, my club companions were not going to be there, but I took a note from Tom Hanks and hunted round in the shed…

They are still fighting with each other…
The KB29A was a long way from closing the fuselage. It needed a bit of analysis and trimming to let the cockpit assembly sit square with the halves together, and preliminary weight tests revealed that a lot was going to be needed. Fortunately the KB has no guns aboard so the front ventral turret space could be dedicated to a flattened musket ball. As could the areas outboard of the front wheel bay. All epoxied in place.

The crew’s compartments also got something that is entirely new to me – dry brushing. I watched Phil Flory give a tutorial on it on YouTube and determined to try it. It’s mostly worked out well, if a trifle overdone – but I’m pleased for my first experience. It’ll settle down in the dimness of the interior.

I’m also pleased to be able to report the operational trick of painting parts on sprue trees has also become very successful.

So the morning was passed well. In two days time we carried on again.
