Boeing KB29A – Part Seven – Multiple Models

No, this isn’t about those kits that promise you two, three or more finished models from the kit. I admire them but will not pay the price they cost. Plus I fear getting bored with the process when finishing the third variant out of a pack of eight.

I write of making multiple models in each build – or as put before – make every part count.

The heading image is a prime example. Each one of those propellers has four sprays of paint, separately masked, and eight decals, separately applied…the whole finished with a dull lacquer coat. The wheels are each a careful cementation, sanding, undercoat, tyre black, and silver hubs. Each section was an evening’s work, and I would not have done it in less if I could have – it was pure model building all the way.

The parts will blend into the whole and accent it. I welcome this sort of construction as it fills in the time-wasting gaps of cement and paint setting.

So treat every sprue tree as a Christmas one with a chance for dazzling decoration.

nce for dazzling decoration.
