This Grumman is a first on several counts; first Bearcat I’ve ever built and first of the Chrissy kits off the rank. It was a gift from a clubmate – John – and is very much appreciated.

The kit is not new mould – there is a catalogue inside the box for 1989 Monogram kits. It was a period when I was out of modelling and so these kits are new to me. I’m particularly interested that they also did a Mini Masterpiece of a Curtiss P-36 and it looks as if it might have been moulded with a chrome plate finish. I also note there are ” Lap Snaps ” which I take to be extremely simplified models for kids.

Well the F8F is not too complex but does have a full complement of arms. I think I’ll load it up when it’s ready, as the dark blue colour needs some lift to show up well in this small scale. No idea whether the decals will work, but there are others in the spares that can be called upon if needed.

I have been able to figure out the instructions…
