A lot of the models displayed at the recent WASMEX display were familiar – they and I had been to previous shows and I think we all had a good time. But there were new things that popped up in the main hall and the competition hall that puzzled me.
Aw, the kids have busted the Playstation again, Honey…

Actually, no – they haven’t. They’ve made a perfect little model replica of a popular video game system for display – and it’s been made as an exploded version so we can see all the components inside. It’s magnificent. Now if we could only get them to make their beds with such dedication…
Is it going to shoot at me or bite me?

This is why I avoid gardening as much as I can. The thought of turning one of these little suckers up behind the barbecue keeps me well away. I know that nature’s creatures are wonderful but I prefer the fluffy kittens and puppies end of the spectrum.
I have no words.

No point of reference here for what look to be magnificent works of art. Just a series of questions:
Are they cakes? Are they edible cakes? Are there any plates and forks available? No, no, no…try again:
Are they models of cakes? Are they design illustrations for cake decorator books? Or for advertising ? Perhaps they are like those wonderful plastic constructions that Japanese restaurants put in their windows to show people what the food looks like.
All speculation aside, they really are delightful to look at. There’s complexity to them that rivals anything the vehicle modellers could attempt. and no photo-etch…
And a final word about the heading image. I am in awe of the effects that the painters in this genre can put onto their models. The big thing in there with the burnt metal discs ( and they aren’t metal and they aren’t burned, are they? They’re magnificently done plastic, one assumes. ) looks like it could star in either the next blockbuster movie or a verge collection.
The scuttling orange thing in front just frightens me, it seems so real. But that’s the fun of WASMEX – scuttling and fear.
