I like photo-etch brass pieces. I also like chiggers and toothache. All three are acquired tastes…

In the case of the Goblin I, the brass fret is not too daunting – rendered more comfortable by the fact that I am not going to touch about half of the tiny parts on it. This is not bull-headedness – the prototype I’m modelling doesn’t sport some of the details this fret tries to make. And some of the details it does have would be so tiny as to invite immediate breakage and loss.
I’se paid my money and I’se gwine to make my own choices.
The interior panel actually fits pretty well into the fuselage – prompting me to think someone made a serious error in the factory. Don’t worry – they’ll correct this in their next kit. I do appreciate the side wall detail that doesn’t have to be built of resin tubes.
The line between the bare cockpit of the 60’s Airfix kit and the totally detailed after-market nightmare of the short-run kit is a very long one but I do appreciate moulders who have gone a certain way down it. In 1:72 all you need is a Hasegawa or Academy level of detail to make a rewarding job of it.
