Your New Year’s Modelling Resolution

You may be feeling a bit queasy this morning after the New Year’s Eve just gone, but that doesn’t excuse you from your duty as a scale modeller to make a number of New Years Resolutions. Here is a list from which you may choose:

a. You can resolve to complete the kits that are in your stash before purchasing any more.

b. You can resolve to buy more kits before completing your stash.

c. You can resolve to be eco-friendly and stop using cotton Q-tips to smooth off putty.

d. You can resolve to clean the screw threads of every paint bottle before closing it.

e. You can resolve not to break scale and never build outside of your field.

f. You can resolve to rig every biplane.

g. You can resolve to pass by the hobby shop without popping in for a pot of paint, or a jar of sandpaper, or a complete new compressor and airgun.

h. You can resolve to dust the models on the shelf.

i. You can resolve to make a 45 metre-square diorama for the big local scale model exhibition before April. Only those who plan to model the Nullarbor at Eucla will possibly succeed, though transportation to the Cannington hall may be a problem.

The highest number of resolutions actually achieved wins a prize.

  1. A very pertinent list of actions unlikely to come to fruition! đŸ˜‰ (I did, however, recently buy an inexpensive set of miniature vacuum attachments and dusted the planes on the shelf! I was astonished to see even the really old ones looking quite fresh!) Happy New Year!

    1. And happy new year to you. Now go empty the vacuum cleaner bag and re-cement the machine guns, antennae, and bits of decal back on…
