When that question comes up, the answer is never ” Yes “. Yet it could be…
I do things that are pointless and expensive and embarrassing. And fun. I’m not going to tell you what, but you can let your imaginations run wild. As this is a scale model column, wild is likely to involve kits and builds. If you want to read about the other things you’ll have to go to my other columns.
Note: I write four regularly, and fifth one on occasions. I am the only Fifth Columnist you’ve ever met…
Back to the fun.
Some kits are fun all the way through – some run out of it early. You can purchase a good time or a bad time, and very often you don’t know what you’ve got until you are fairly into the thing. You might get a hint from the first opening of the box. Or you might have chickened out and read all the reviews before you risked your money. Wisdom and cowardice are very similar in certain lights.
I opt for courage, and buy things on the strength of imagination and the box art. In truth, there have been kits where the box art was the best thing about them – I should have cut the top of the container off and binned the rest. The fact that I have never done this so far does not preclude me from doing it in the future when I open a box and see nothing but flash and sinkholes and it all seems too much…
Note: Some days are not built for fun. Just the way it is.
