German General Service Truck – Part Two – Every Assembly

Every assembly on this little truck is a model in itself – and each one is a model of precision.

The basic need is for a toy truck – so much of the painting is simplified. Dark iron, black, tyre black, etc. And a nod to the origins of the vehicle and the possible source of paint to convert it – the cab and cargo compartment are painted in RLM colours. I’m sure after the war they painted with whatever came to hand.

The fit of the engine components is equal to a 1/25 scale car and the rest of the chassis is precise enough so that the 6 tyres and wheels all rest on the roadway at the same time – take that Airfix! I did do the shock absorber arms and towing hooks from the PE sheet, but excused myself from the jerry can holder. I was a little surprised not to find the rear-view mirror on the PE sheet.

The cargo bed reminds me of a small British rail goods wagon.

So far, this is a delight to build.
