Italeri F/A 18 Hornet – Part Three – Perkkele!

Not really – I have nothing to complain about. Stay where you are.

The finish on this Finnish aircraft is courtesy of the paints that were gifted to me by Warren Jones – I am getting to grips with the business of enamels with lacquer thinners and in many respects they seem to be easier to apply than the lacquers themselves. Of course they need a clear gloss coat for decal application, but once set up, they seem hard to scratch.

The load-out for this two-seater is derived from a photo taken recently to show that the Finnish air force can put a large number of planes into the air simultaneously. One large centre-line tank and one Sidewinder on the port wing.

The graphics for Finnish service are commendably simple.

The squadron nick-name for this aircraft is ” Kampurajalka ” but I think it is my fault and not that of Italeri. Once in the air there are no problems…
