Make At Least One Little World

No matter what the size.

The Little World is a fun column to write. I draw on the individual scale models I build and sometimes get to expand to several at once. Then I get to arrange them in dioramas and eventually into layouts. I’ve been fortunate to have enough space to do this, though enough space is never enough. Ask me about storage of models…

But back to the littler worlds. Everyone can build a small spot of the world that is their own – or that is someone else’s. That is what they do when they use the plastic diorama base that comes with their 1/76 Jeep. The fact that a million other modellers have also painted that piece of plastic is irrelevant – it becomes real anew when done again…by you.

And once you start, you need never finish. Whatever you seek to model can be seen in a context. You can build a plastic chair from a Hasegawa kit, put it with a plastic table, and then construct a schoolroom about it. All of a sudden you are a miniaturist.

Go to the hobby shop and buy a ready-made miniature room kit. They are not dear. You will be charmed and rewarded all the time you are building it.
