It’s Fun To Be Ignorant…

Until something even more fun comes along.

For years I have avoided building in scales other than 1/72 and 1/76. My model airfields were this size and I needed goods for them. I could shop in the OO model railway shelves and the plastic model shelves for a long time.

Then shopping got harder as I found I had one of nearly everything on the shelves already. I started multiple builds – and found them delightful when I could legitimately ring in some change or modification.

Then someone suggested a 1/144 scale model to me…and I was intrigued. It came out so well that I was delighted. And even more so when another friend pressed seven more kits in this scale. They have given me permission to expand my hobby into larger aircraft in smaller scale – made to a standard and displayed with a recognisable theme.

Will this shake me from my standards? No, but it will give me a chance to have variety in my collection. I am still not really willing to go back to box scale yet, but perhaps nostalgia will kick in as I get older. I already long for the television of Roy Rogers and Wayne and Schuster…
