Not Every Tool Is A Good Tool

But they won’t tell you that at the hobby shop or on the internet site.

We all have more tools than we use…every toolbox I’ve ever seen has at least 10 – 20% excess in it that just gets shifted about when we look for the useful items. Yes, I’m guilty of this too. Every so often I edit the travelling toolboxes but rarely throw anything out at home.

And not all of the things I carry are good quality – or effective – or safe. I regularly cut a thumb on knife blades that are too sharp close to the handle. Experience is gradually teaching me to devote these handles to saw blades or other shapes of blade.

The makers of tools are only partly to blame for bad designs…we also share it by purchasing oddities that are recommended as ” just the thing “. In reality they are just things, and if they don’t work for us are better binned.

Do not be afraid to improve your chances by chucking out the cheap tools.
