English Electric Lightning – Part Two – Club Day

When ya hot, ya hot.

The heading image is the Lightning at the end of the second club morning – wings, tail, nose and exhausts all firmly in place. And there will not be a trace of filler needed on any of the flying surfaces.

Laugh, if you will, at the raised panel lines. Snigger at the crude instructions and colour sheet. Sneer at the slightly old decals…But you cannot take away from the Hasegawa engineers the ability to make a well-fitting and tight ship all those years ago.

The nose encloses an entire musket ball beaten into a lozenge shape and secured with super-glue. The cockpit is a simple seat and pilot figure. There is little detail in the nose or bum, but these will look well enough with paint.

It would probably not stand direct comparison to a fresh Airfix kit of the same aircraft, but I believe in enjoying what is on my own plate and not looking at the dinner of others.
