For stoics, if problems exist outside, they have ways of dealing with them, inside.
The stoic dips very rarely into the pool of external anxiety, and then only briefly. Their first step is to determine whether some event truly affects them or is the affair of another and can be safely ignored.
In our hobby, this means that they do not have to take the advice or criticism of others about their modelling. It is an activity that is outside their character – the part of life that matters. The significance of a colour or shape recedes into complete in-significance.
And how much more so an opinion about politics or religion…the stoic arrives at a club meeting navigating upon a steady internal compass and need not swing it for anyone else.
Does a stoic compete in model contests? No. Not for fear of losing, but of winning. Receiving an award means accepting external influence. Bestowing one seeks to control others.
