In my hobby clubs there are people who risk death daily by building models using photo-etched brass parts.
The fatal danger they run is showing the rest of us up with their skill and precision. One day they will be found out the side door with little knives in their backs.
To be fair, some of them have been doing it for a long time and have wonderful little clamps and jigs to help get the bends straight. They employ cyanoacrylate glue and kicker and rarely stick themselves to their models or the bench. We could all benefit from watching how they do it.
For myself, I admire the masts and rigging done their ship models immensely, while having no desire to emulate them. I should be satisfied if the most basic of details can be constructed for small aircraft and even here the most miniscule parts can be left off. I am happy with seatbelts, landing gear scissors, and engine pushrods.
