Fokker D.XXI – Part One -SOOTB Fighter

I have so few Dutch aircraft in my collection that this stash buy is a real asset – Let us hope the kit is up to MPM standards.

New MPM standards, I hasten to add. The canopy is clear injection and there is only the wretched resin propeller boss and separate blades to gloom the day. There are two lots of decals, as I suspect there were two kits originally, but this is just insurance against ageing. At the worst, Dutch orange triangles can be spray painted.

I shall not deviate from the box art and building instructions. The sprue trees seem decent enough and the simplicity of the design is comforting after building a Roden biplane. As the Dutch painted the underside of the aircraft in one of the colours they used for the top camouflage, it is a three-pot job rather than a four, and all the more welcome for that.

The good part is there are museum examples and a flying replica extant now – so Google can provide pictures for any questions the box or instructions cannot answer.
