If It Is Not The Best Model That You Have Ever Made…

Is it the worst?

Let’s face it – we do have failures from time to time. Things start out fine and end up slightly horrid. We may have done what we always do, expecting a win…and ended up with a loss.

The finish was off, the shape was off, the build was off. We were off, and we feel even off-er now. What do we do?

The strictest of us bin the model, go buy another, and make a better fist of it. Or we make the same fist and realise that the basic kit was terrible. Or we make it worse…and feel worse…

I would suggest that the wisest course of action is to keep the off model as a beacon and navigate forward from it. If it was bad, spend some time thinking out what made it so. Then what you could have done better. Then take your courage in your hands, go get a similar model kit, and do that better. The mistake is there as a relic – the new kit is there as a chance.
