Some buy it in kits – the scale is stated on the box, unless it was moulded in the 1950’s…
Some scratch-build and measure it out with rulers and calipers. Their computers will lay it out and editing programs let them change it.
And they can lose it entirely at a scale model exhibition. If they are in a group of people losing their minds they can all join in. If they agree it beforehand, they can all behave like fools and no-one saw anything…
Those who only do this once can be excused, as well as those who might do it only once a year. But to do it year after year argues a defect of character that rather overbalances skill in scale modelling.
Still, they are good for someone else’s soul, if not for their own.
