It’s new – in the shops and on my workbench.
If you have never built a certain model made by a certain manufacturer of a certain aircraft, it is, by definition, a new model. It might be reissued, it might be remaindered, it might be stash-sold…no matter. You and that model are meeting for the first time, and it is well to be polite.

Some people quail at the thought of a re-release – a vintage classic – a leftover shelf queen. Not I – any creature is meat for the pot round our house and the same applies to the model workbench.

This Vintage Classic is very well moulded – I pick up only two sink marks in the lot and the fit of the fuselage and flying surfaces is magnificent. The odd gouge where are part has twisted off a sprue tree is easily fixed as the feed positions have not been placed in sensitive areas.

Decal sheet is fresh, colour call out is clear, and the absence of fiddly landing gear is welcome. I will be taking the precaution of epoxying a balsa wood block into the fuselage just above the slot for the stand – I will be using a wire stand to support it.

The entire kit is about he size of a 1/72 twin-engine bomber but with four radial engines. Imposing size shrunk to fit a standard shelf.
