The Plastic Torch?

Is what we do a bit historical – or hysterical?

I once bought an armload of 1:72 kits from a very nice chap who visited our modelling club. They were a number of items from his late fathers collection – the man unfortunately passed away far too early to build them.

This is sad – but a story we have encountered at every turn of life. My own dad died far too early – and before he had a chance to enjoy his retirement. It’s a message to the rest of us to have our best time right now while we can.

Well, the kits were a very mixed bag accumulated in the UK at a time when there were a lot of small makers entering the market. I saw Soviet, Polish, French, and other factories represented, and as I am an eclectic builder. I enjoyed putting together each one.

And that is the thing. I carried on from the original collector – and the original makers who intended their efforts to be built. They went to infinite pains and it was my responsibility to see that they were not wasted.
