If You’re Not In It

You can’t win it.

This distresses some, but delights others. You see, if they do not make a bet, they do not lose their money. If they do not enter a contest they are not relegated with the majority of the crowd to be losers. If they’re not in it, they can’t lose it.

Indeed, they win a prize right at the outset. Not being concerned with the fear of judgment, they can enjoy the day for other reasons. And at the end of it they are spared the necessity of standing there and listening to the guff of award ceremonies and speeches. They can pack up and PO promptly.

There’s Door Prize, First Prize, and then there’s First Out Of The Door Prize…
