Atlantic Wildcat – Part Three – White And Grey

Like a West Point dress uniform.

The Wildcat build started on Saturday and finished on Monday – with plenty of eating, drinking, and sleeping time in the interval. It was not the most complex nor puzzling kit ever built.

But what a sweet model. There is a current air show Wildcat flying in North America that confirms the colour scheme and is well kept enough to justify a clean build. I think the owners of the full-sized ship have spray painted gun blast trails back from the machine-gun positions but I do not know if they have mounted actual ordnance in the wings. It would make it a lot more complex to get flying permission if there were guns in the wings and I dread to think what the local bureaucrats here in Western Australia would do if a show ship like this were ever to come here. The Department Of Thou Shalt Not would be working overtime.

I wonder if the state government demands licences from the RAAF or USAF aircraft that call at RAAF PEARCE. If there is a fee involved, I bet they do…

Now the only remaining F$F/Martlet combination I need is the RCN ones flown from a British Carrier in 1945. I think I will hold out for an ARMA copy or an Eduard to do this.
