Do What You Can

With what you have – where you are.

This may have been Teddy Roosevelt’s line or it might have been from an earlier writer. Since I just typed it, it’s mine now. You are free to use it as you will.

You have a kit in front of you – for which you may have paid a whack o money. You have cutters and knives and sanding sticks and paintbrushes. You may have a jsr of paint and possibly can even manage to get the lid off ( with a pair of pliers and some startliong language). Now is the time to open the box and set to it.

Do Not:

a. Go out and buy $100 worth of aftermarket parts.

b. Buy a set of new power tools just for this kit.

c. Bring home the entire rack of new paints – in case you might need a special shade of grey.

d. Buy the next 15 kits in the range so that you have them in reserve.

e. Tell yourself that you will stat tomorrow.

If Teddy Roosevelt could dig the Panama Canal with his teeth, you can build a new kit with the tools and determination you already have. You don’t even have to contend with Yellow Fever or Congress.

Start digging.
