You Really Do Need Two Pairs Of Cutters.

I should have laughed at myself for writing that header a few years ago.

I had just re-started in scale kit building and had purchased a Ustar tool kit with knife, cutter, sandpaper blocks, etc. I still have most of it and most of it still works. What more could you want?

Well, you could want a pair of side-cutters that did not crush the finer parts when you cut them off the sprue tree. I have learned by bitter experience that this is possible and that the alternative of knifing everything loose is also dodgy. Things still break and fly off into the netherworld.

It may be time to admit the wisdom of a very fine pair of cutters. I shall have to be disciplined and not use them for heavy gates. I have heard tales of the jaws being damaged this way.

There will also be damage to the pocket with this idea. Fabulous prices have been bandied about and I have a weak wallet. I may have to resort to fossicking in the toolboxes of other club members while they are in the loo. It’s not kind, but it is frugal.
