Whenever you are enjoying what you think is a freebie, look carefully about you and see what it has cost. There are money trails leading everywhere and down them cash flows ceaselessly. In most cases it is away from you.

If you are allowed to use a public room somewhere for your own purposes, be assured that whoever has permitted it is making something from the deal. It might not be from your purse, but someone has paid for the space you occupy and the time you prevent its use by others. Permissions may be withdrawn at a moment’s notice – a change of council, management, or mind is all that it takes. Let can become hindrance in one sentence.

If you are thus sentenced, decide whether you will enter into a bidding war or withdraw in peace. There are other spaces that may be available – other authorities that might wish your presence.

However, always remember that what can be done once can be done as many more times as whim or wampum dictate.
