Or what to do with a wartime leftover…

If it is a plate of powdered egg scrambled with Spam, consider how many decades have passed since VE- Day,,,If it is an old QMT, also consider what time has done to wartime metal construction – particularly British metal with British engineering.

The QMT trailer is marked as being able to take 5 tons, but they specify it must be evenly distributed. The thin-girder lattice frame work has a little too much Barnes-Wallace about it to inspire much confidence for Canadian hauliers. Does it meet modern road safety standards? Probably not.

But as a carrier for drill pipes and long cut-timber loads it would serve well enough. That is what this Hughes Transport unit will be tasked with – pipes for Pembina oil wells out in the Alberta bush that are to transported by gravel roads. Enjoy the clean appearance now as it will not last…
