The experimental exhibition barrier went into action today.
Fits on the standard trestle very well and is secure. The colour does stand out, and people capable of reading it do so.
However, it was no use against a 2 1/2 year-old grabbing up over the edge – one model was damaged before the attending parent swooped
It was also no barrier to elderly people picking up labels from the display surface to read them – arrogance of age – or a 6 year old leaning their elbows on the display surface.
Next step will be to attach a clear plastic strip to the piece of wood – about 200mm high. The barriers will be a little more awkward to carry but may do the job more efficiently.
