Would line up to buy old model kits?
I don’t know. Because just after I shot this panorama ( not a complete one, mind…) I joined the end of the queue. It was like the Oklahoma Land Rush, but in styrene.
Some stash sales are sedate affairs. Discretely attended by studious enthusiasts who quietly murmur amongst themselves. Money discretely changes hands and it is all very elegant. Not Sunday morning at WASMex.
People are polite, mind. There is no eye-gouging. Only two elbows allowed per participant. Revolvers are discouraged.
And everyone has a chance for something they didn’t know they wanted. They were not going to buy anything…of course…That wad of notes in their pocket was just there by accident. And everyone knew they had enough models already – they were just going to see the show. Of course, of course…
I was merely there to observe humanity, which is why I spent my lunch money on a model of a Swedish fighter plane.
