The AGM

I missed one AGM this year while recovering from surgery.

Feeling much better, I got complacent, and decided that I could go to a different one with impunity. As it was to be held in a pub, what could possibly go wrong…?

Well, the start time was an hour before the bar opened and the designated meeting room was the pool parlour halfway between the public bar and the toilets. The walls were hard and the acoustics harder. When the bar opened it was to a room-full of drinkers and one barman…

Aside from this, the meeting went well. The organisation has money, but will be in debt when the invoices arrive. The year’s plans are feasible. The principle dates will be changed to avoid bad weather.

No one was injured or killed at the last event, and the medics were mostly not needed. No big security breaches; only a few non-payers snuck into the affair. And new exhibitors meant that the public was entertained.

This meeting was so successful that it doesn’t need to be repeated for six months.
