The Puppy And The Old Dog

Makes you nostalgic, eh?

We start with such high hopes and so much precision. then we encounter The Kit From Hell and the bottle of nuclear waste thinner and it all goes wrong.

As the years go by the mat gets punished for our sins but the models get better. We watch as markings disappear under layers of paint. We look at places where our fingerprints appear, outlined in superglue.

Someone says we need a new mat – but do we? Did we ever use the printed white lines for anything? If we needed to measure a part we always used a steel ruler.

Perhaps the best thing to do is frame the dear old thing and claim a place in the Museum Of Modern Art.
