The hard way.

The annual scale model show at Cannington Showgrounds is a good time to be had by all, but it has a number of not-so-good times within its weekend. Some of these revolve around trying to get models there for display, park while delivering, park while exhibiting, and reversing the process at the end. By and large we all manage and there are few fatalities.

However, it contrasts a little with some of the other big displays that this city sees. The model train exhibition at Claremont is also a weekend but the layouts take a lot longer to transport, set up, and break down. The exhibitors have to be there days beforehand. This contributes to the costs involved as the venue wants to maximise their return by having the space occupied.

There is also the paid parking at Claremont that can be a fair proportion of a day’s spend for a visitor – or they could take the train or bus to the Showgrounds to avoid this. It is a pity the Cannington venue is somewhat of a hike from the train line – however there are busses that pass right by it.

Not much help to the exhibitors, though – you can hardly arrive on the Transperth with an entire table of models and exhibition accessories. One way or the other, you gonna be driving something in and out.
