Join the Western Front club. They concentrate themselves upon WW1 subjects and, while the allied planes may be a bit formulaic or muted, the German ones can give you all the colour you want.
I concentrate on the 1/72 types for my collection, but I admire the builders who have gone to 1/48 and 1/32 for theirs. They have brought the curse of rigging upon themselves, but bear it with fortitude and the larger canvas upon which they practice their art lets us see the designs better.
I subscribe to a Facebook group that deal with this subject for the German and Austro-Hungarian air forces and it appears that a modeller never need run out of new schemes to paint. A decal printer would have a field day.
Now the club needs to source some lozenge-pattern cloth as table covers.
