After the necessary box art photo, both halves of the box go into a plastic bag in the shed and will be heaved out as soon as the build is done. The rest of the parts are in the original plastic bags – sealed – and will be transferred to a larger plastic box.
The decals are sealed, but the instruction sheets are not – they get scanned and tossed. The scanner bed gets an alcohol wipe.
The decals are 30 years old – they will be scanned at 1200dpi and the file saved – in case a reprint on my own printer is needed. If they were just USAF or USN types I could let this stage go – but RVAF roundels are quite different and I’ll need to reproduce them. I can only hope…
The Hasegawa kit is essentially the same as all their other Skyraiders. I’ve already done a Korean war Swede Carlson version with torpedo so this will be straight out of the mouldy box as a Vietnam war example. The overall grey will differentiate if from USAF AND USN examples to follow.
Gotta love a stash – even if it is mouldy. After all, I am a fun guy…
