Which is remarkably short-sighted of me – this thing is as wide as a house trailer.
And as long and as high. In fact, if it had an oil stove and a porch you could take your muddy boots off in, you could park it in Peace River for the winter…

Never before have I held a Shorts Skyvan, and now Airfix has remade it – at a tiny price. I snatched the thing off the shelf in the hobby store and ran to the till. And then I ran to my computer to see what they used them for in Canada.

Arctic transport. Geological surveys. Air Defence fighters. Or am I thinking of CF-104’s? In any case mine will either be a Norcanair transport or the geo-survey one.

I need to get some accurate internet images of the interior of the plane in these service – the Airfix kit has a wonderful set of seats and pilots -the latter can stay, but I suspect the former were probably taken out to fit magnetic survey equipment or cargo containers. If I plan to leave the back open, I need a sensible scene inside.

I just wrote the word ” sensible ” in connection with scale model aircraft building.
Now there’s another first.
