We’re All Human

And all prone to error.

So it is not fair to laugh at someone making a commercial mistake; especially when the sin carries its own punishment. The thing to be careful of is not being a party to the process.

I saw a shop where a number of extremely small kits were being sold at extremely high prices and it set me on a speculative trail. Just now I’ve spoken to someone who spent years in the wholesale and retail hobby trade to ask what went wrong.

The opinion is that it’s likely to be unfamiliarity with the plastic kit branch of the business or a job lot from a wholesaler that contained the items but did not specify what they were. This has been done in other trades, as well. I recall unsalable lenses arriving in a retail shop after trade conferences – we could only speculate as to the wholesale process that acquired them…

If these kits gradually sell I will fall on my ass in surprise. I will not fall if they just disappear en masse. They could be shipped back to the wholesaler with a stinging note. They may cling to the shelf, seemingly forever, until despair drops their price to the $ 30.00 mark.

I do not foresee a shop fire or flood.
