And yet so far…
I was really hoping to get the Dornier 17Z buttoned up with no need for filler as a tribute to the old Monogram moulders.

Such was not to be the case, but in the meantime I am puzzling over the inside of the wing. The Monogram engravings are there alright, as well as on the display stand – that is the nature of modern business that buys and exchanges old moulds for re-issue. I’m grateful that it brings things I might have missed. But what is the scrubbed-out bit inside the wing to the left of the actual engraving. Someone took time to fill in the inside of the mould and grind it off – what was on there?

But, as you can see, the wing roots are fine, the smooth flow of the top wing into the fuselage is all one could ask for. However, there is a stepped seam down the rest of the fuselage nearly to the tail. I’ve trowelled on Mr White Putty today and kept it in a warm place to thoroughly cure – tomorrow I reclaim the contour with sanding sticks. I’m not fussy enough to worry about the odd raised panel line or rivet that may fall by the wayside.
I admire the enthusiasts that will sit and re-scribe the entire thing to get sunken panel lines, but I fear the result in my hands would make it far worse.
